Corn Rice

Corn Rice → Don Chani Special Corn for Corn Rice

A traditional Costa Rican breakfast essential in every Guanacastecan home. Soft, creamy and full of genuine corn flavor.

Tip

The secret is washing well and slow cooking.

Ingredients

  • • 1 package (500 g) Don Chani Special Corn for Corn Rice
  • • 8 cups water
  • • 1½ tsp salt
  • • 1 cup whole milk
  • • Sour cream to taste
  • • Sugar to taste (optional)

Preparation

    Wash the corn rice in plenty of cold water, rubbing with your hands until water runs completely clear.

    In a large pot, place washed corn with 8 cups cold water and salt. Bring to high heat.

    When boiling, reduce to medium and cook covered for 35–40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.

    Check texture: grains should be soft but whole.

    When ready, add 1 cup milk, stir well and cook 5 more minutes on low heat.

    Serve hot in bowls. Accompany with sour cream and sugar to taste.
